Donna Downey Class ;)

On Father's day weekend I was lucky enough to be able to take two classes with Donna Downey.  Four of us went to The Village, FL to She Scrapbooks for the classes with Donna. It was lots of fun!  Donna is a great teacher and motivator.  She's has a great personality and is very funny.  I truly enjoyed it.

Donna showing some pages in the album we were working on.
She's such a hoot!!! I could sit and listen to her chatter all day!

Below are my crafty friends, from left to right : Cheryl B, Paula B (the ower of our local Scrapbook Store - A Scrapbook Store & More) and Susan G

Susan in deep concentration trying to figure out how to add
those little ringy things :) Guess who helped her?   :)
Donna demonstrating the painting of the canvas with Cheryl. By the end of the class I was totally sick of that Magenta Pink Color!!!  I love the album but I had enough. Or, like Donna said "I hit my wall".  I did learn one important lesson.  Water is my friend.  I bought a new big spray bottle when I got home.  Needless to say at the class I had this tiny little one that kept running out. Adding water to the paint and canvas is great!
Here's one completed album.  The other is a big beautiful pink one that I need to finish and add photos so I will share that later.

Just sharing.....

Some Yummy Crate Paper, Portrait line :) <3 Can't get enough CP!!

Lots of Layering!

This is a layout I did for a Design Team Challenge we did just for the design team.  We were given certain items to add to out layout and we were given a sketch.  Needless to say I swayed way away from the original sketch.  I ended up with something totally different.

I like this background paper, I think it's Pink Paislee? It has embossing on it and then I misted and wiped off the excess to see it.

Thanks for stopping in :)

Look what the postman brought!

I did a little happy dance yesterday when I recieved a package in the mail.  I opened it up and there was a copy of The Big Book of Scrapbook Pages in it.

The book is published by Memory Makers Magazine and guess who's layouts are in it?  ME :)  Two, in fact.  Check out page 80 and 228 if you have it.  There are a ton of familiar faces in there.  Many of my Favorite Scrappers!  So much inspiration (and sketches too) I'm so excited that I got a chance to be published in something with some of my scrapping idols :)

You know it's something special when even your hubby is a "little" impressed ;)

Thanks for letting me blather my news today.  I'll be back to tell you about my class with the big "DD"! Hint:  She makes stamps and wears black glasses, LOL :)

Guys Challenge

There's a "For the Guys" Challenge up at The Paper Variety.  I happen to have this layout being worked on this week that fit the challenge YEAH!   So, do you notice something?  Somthing different about this layout? No?  Well, THERE'S NO PATTERN PAPER!!!! None at ALL!!!

That's rare for me :) I LOVE MY PP!

I did some misting and masking on the background and used some grungeboard to cut out those gears and emboss them.  Adding some stitching with baker's twine and some Tim Holtz metal gears and Wa-La! Done!  I love it!

Guess I didn't need the Gesso...

I've been working on some journaling pages this past week.  I'm trying some different tecniques and playing with some new media that I bought.  I really wanted to try some different things but when I started playing I realized my Gesso had dried up :(  So, that left me putting a few things on hold since I needed that to prime my pages.  I did get a new one yesterday so I'm so excited to play some more.

Here's two pages that I did (without gesso).  This first one I started out with some watercolor pencils on the background (which ended up being covered up), then I used some misting, masking, paint, paper, stamps and doodling.

This second one I started with a paper collage background, added some paint, stamps and fabric hearts.

The words were done with some embossing and I added some doodling with a white pen.

Thanks for stopping in  :)

Canvas Playing

I've been getting messy and working on some canvas art.  Here's a little 5X7 bird canvas.
Most of the papers are from a Scarlet Lime Kit

This is a little 4X4. I loved doing this one.
It only took a few minutes :)

Dusting off the Bug

Recently we have been redecorating my oldest daughters room.  In the hunt to find cheap wall hangings and decoration we decided to tackle some of it ourselves and see what we could make.  I decided to take out the Cricut and try a wall hanging.  The poor little guy just sits and collects dust.

Here is one of the creations.  It's pretty good for 2 sheets of 12X12 some gems and a frame :)
All the gems are I-Rock gems we put dowm using the I-Rock tool.  In the process, it died :(  I guess we worked it too hard!

We purchased a cheap floor lamp and decided to add a little vinyl to it.  Here's the outcome.  Not too bad for a couple of dollars :)
